Colorado Access Health Plan Celebrates Another Year of Caring
Personalized Service for Adams, Arapahoe and Beyond
June 1 marked the 1 year anniversary of when Colorado Access began serving Medicaid members in Adams and Arapahoe counties who are elderly or disabled through Colorado Access Health Plan. During its first year, the plan has expanded to Boulder, Broomfield, Denver, and Weld Counties.
With over 12 years of experience in the State’s Medicaid program, Colorado Access brings a vast knowledge of the management of a health plan for individuals who are often underserved. Additionally, the company prides itself in offering personalized service. Each quarter, they invite members to meet with staff at Member Advisory Councils. Here, members share their feelings about Colorado Access Health Plan, and discuss other areas in which they may need assistance such as housing and transportation. “These meetings give us the unique opportunity to get to know our members and to address their concerns face–to-face,” said Claudine McDonald, director of the office of member and family affairs at Colorado Access. “The members we serve often have distinct needs. We use the feedback we receive at these meetings to personalize service and build a health plan that works best for each individual member we serve.”
In addition to the Member Advisory Councils, members of the Colorado Access Health Plan receive all of the benefits of Medicaid as well as zero copays and many free over-the-counter medications with a prescription. The plan also provides Enhanced Care Management services. With these services, members have access to a local care manager to assist in:
- Coordinating care amongst multiple service providers.
- Scheduling appointments and accessing care.
- Creating a care plan.
- Setting health related goals.
