Carl Clark, MDCarl Clark, MD

Carl Clark, MD, is the CEO and medical/clinical director for the Mental Health Corp. of Denver (MHCD). He has served as CEO since 2001 and as medical/clinical director since 1991. In addition, he chairs the Colorado Psychiatric Society AIDS Education Committee and is a board member of the American Association of Physicians for Human Rights. He is also the assistant clinical professor at the Department of Psychiatry, School of Medicine, University of Colorado and the supervisor for senior residents in the outpatient clinic, Colorado University. He also supervises community psychiatry residents at Colorado University and the group discussion teacher for a human behavior course at the University of Colorado. Clark is the recipient of the 1993 National Alliance for Mental Illness Exemplary Psychiatrist Award. He has also conducted numerous presentations and has been published extensively. 


Leonard J. Dryer, Jr.Leonard J. Dryer, Jr.

Leonard J. Dryer, Jr., joined The Children's Hospital in 1982. He served as staff accountant, supervisor of accounting and controller before becoming Chief Financial Officer/Senior Vice President of Finance in 1990. Career highlights include developing contracting strategies that increased managed care contracts by 40 percent; increasing cash reserves by $37 million over an eight-year period; developing educational programs for department heads; and serving on eight boards both within the hospital structure and in the community. He served as Colorado Access Board of Directors chair in 1997 and the board's treasurer in 1996. 


Mike BloomMike Bloom

Mike Bloom is President and CEO of North Colorado Health Alliance, whose mission is to ensure that all medically underserved residents of Northeast Colorado have access to appropriate, affordable, quality healthcare and disease prevention services. Prior to heading the alliance, he served as President and CEO for Sunrise Community Health Center in Greeley, Colorado. Before that, he held leadership positions at North Colorado Family Medicine and Valleywide Health Services. He also worked independently as a healthcare consultant. He earned his MPA from Harvard University after graduating from Dartmouth College. 


David S. MyersDavid S. Myers

David S. Myers is the President and CEO of the Metro Community Provider Network (MCPN). He received his BA in journalism from Kent State University in Ohio and began his career first in Peace Corps in Guatemala where he was introduced to public health and then as a journalist in Mexico City. From there he attended the CSU masters program for nutrition and joined the Plan de Salud del Valle organization to work with migrant farmworkers and the rural poor. In 1993 he became CEO for the MCPN and has been in that position up until the present. As director of that organization, he oversees a network of 16 locations providing health services to the uninsured of suburban Denver. His system encompasses medical clinics, dental clinics and outreach/community service sites. In addition to his duties at MPCN, he is also on the boards of the Colorado Community Managed Care Network, the Colorado Community Health Network, the Denver Oncology Consortium and the National HealthCare for the Homeless Council. 


Lilly MarksLilly Marks

Lilly Marks is Senior Associate Dean of Administration and Finance at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and Executive Director of University Physicians, Inc. She has spent over 25 years in academic medicine in a variety of administrative and leadership positions. A graduate of the University of Colorado, in 1989 she was appointed Senior Associate Dean for Administration and Finance at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. In 1991, Ms. Marks took on the additional and concurrent role of Executive Director of University Physicians, Inc., a 501(c)(3) that operates as the centralized faculty practice plan at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Ms. Marks is past chair of the AAMC Group on Faculty Practice and also serves on the steering committee of the University Health Systems Consortium Group Practice Council. She has also served as chair of the Academic Practice Assembly of the MGMA and as a member of the MGMA national board of directors. Ms. Marks is a frequent speaker on topics related to medical school administration and finance, clinical practice management and compliance issues. 


Anthony C. DeFurioAnthony C. DeFurio

Anthony C. DeFurio is the Vice President of Finance and CFO for the University of Colorado Hospital Authority, which he joined in December 2006. From 2003 to 2006, Mr. DeFurio served as the Chief Financial Officer for the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, and from 2001 to 2003 he was Senior Vice President and CFO at the Sisters of Charity Providence Hospitals in South Carolina. From 1999 to 2001 he was the CFO for Catholic Health Initiatives (Centura) in Denver and from 1989 to 1999 mapped an extensive career with Columbia/HCA and related entities. Anthony holds Masters Degrees in Business Administration and Health Administration from the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. 


Mark Wallace, MD, MPHMark Wallace, MD, MPH

Dr. Mark Wallace, acting with two other healthcare leaders, founded and continues to serve as President of the North Colorado Health Alliance. Since 2000 he has served as the Executive Director of the Weld County Department of Public Health & Environment. From 1994 until his appointment by the Board of County Commissioners as Executive Director, Dr. Wallace served as the Medical Advisor to the County's health department. He serves as the vice-president of both the Weld County Medical Society Board of Directors and the Colorado Academy of Family Physicians Board of Directors. Dr. Wallace is also the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sunrise Community Health Center. Dr. Wallace currently serves on the Colorado Blue Ribbon Commission for Health Care Reform. He attended the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California receiving his medical degree in1984. Dr. Wallace subsequently completed a 3-year residency in Family Practice at the UCLA-Santa Monica Hospital Medical Center and then a 1-year post-graduate fellowship in Academic Family Medicine at the UCLA Center for the Health Sciences. He received his Masters in Public Health from the UCLA School of Public Health in 1989. Dr. Wallace completed the Johnson & Johnson/UCLA Health Care Executive Program at the John E. Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA in 2004.
