Sr. Decision Support Analyst
We are currently seeking a Sr. Decision Support Analyst responsible for supporting organizational decision-making through high-level analysis, reporting, research, and effective use of data generated from our information systems. The Decision Support Senior Analyst is specifically responsible for providing above services related to their individually assigned customers and functional departments/products. The Decision Support Senior Analyst will be responsible for in-depth analyses that cross functional areas and business lines. Subject areas include, but are not limited to, claims, medical management, membership and eligibility, provider relations, quality improvement, behavioral Health, corporate members, correctional care, etc.
Essential Functions Summary
- Serve as consultant to Decision Support customers (internal and external) to insure that information needs are understood, complete specifications are identified, and the appropriate analysis, research, report, or other support is identified to address those needs.
- Transform high level Decision Support requests, both internal and external, into a useful product with actionable outcomes that utilizes the most credible and efficient data source, subject to relevant materiality levels.
- Identify actionable issues through data interpretation and research and provide summary of trends, observations, and actionable items on standard and ad hoc reports.
- Utilize a variety of software applications and data sources to develop and produce standard and ad hoc reports or methodologies for the Decision Support department and the Analysis and Reporting Team.
- Perform various advanced statistical analyses for clients (both internal and external). Analytical requests may include predictive modeling, analysis of variance, and segmentation/clustering exercises.
- Actively develop new tools and system enhancements that contribute to Knowledge Access capabilities.
- Seek out, identify, document, and initiate resolutions to data quality issues that are discovered in the course of report and analysis development.
- Document and contribute training to Decision Support Analysts for processes related to development of reports including data sources, definitions, and methodologies.
- Participate in available training programs offered through the Analysis and Reporting Team, and maintain an individual training/education strategy with immediate supervisor.
- In coordination with Department management, specific elements of the Company’s Strategic Plan will be identified as focus areas for this position and will be included as position responsibilities.
Requirements/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in health care related area, statistics, computer systems, finance or accounting.
- Advanced understanding of health benefits, medical terminology, medical procedures, and managed care industry.
- Expertise with CPT, ICDM and other coding system.
- Experience with standard Windows software packages, especially spreadsheets and databases.
- Experience with data management and query tools, such as Business Objects XIR3, SQL, etc.
- A minimum of two years in health care data related field, experience a requirement except in special circumstances.
