World AIDS Day
|
Every year, December 1st is recognized as World AIDS Day. On this day we are reminded how important it is to get tested for HIV and AIDS. As a managed care organization, Colorado Access is committed to this endeavor and supports being tested for HIV as a health prevention method.
Why is getting tested important?
- There are more than 1 million people in the United States living with HIV.
- One-fourth of them do not know that they are infected.
- There are more than 40,000 new cases of HIV diagnosed every year.
- No population, male/female, black/white, gay/straight goes unaffected by HIV or AIDS.
Early Detection
Early detection of HIV infection can lead to a longer and healthier life. If you do not know if you are infected with HIV, you could be spreading it to others. If you are HIV positive, you must take steps to prevent passing your HIV infection to another person.
Do Your Part!
During December, do your part, get tested and tell others about the importance of being tested for HIV!
