Congressman Jason Crow Honors Colorado Access and Community Partners for Their COVID-19 Pandemic Work in the Hispanic Community

AURORA , Colo. – Colorado Access welcomed U.S. Representative Jason Crow to its offices on October 19, 2022 along with several local provider partners, to receive formal recognition in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month.

The congressman presented Colorado Access, Aurora Health Alliance, Mi Casa Resource Center, Salud Family Health, Servicios de la Raza, STRIDE Community Health Center, and the Village Exchange Center with a Congressional Record for their work with the Hispanic community, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated from September 15th to October 15th each year. Congressman Crow honored the contributions the Latino community made to Colorado’s Sixth Congressional District, which he represents, and acknowledged it as the most diverse district in Colorado.

“In the face of a devastating pandemic, we saw COVID-19 disproportionately impact the Hispanic community,” Congressman Crow wrote in his remarks entered into the Congressional Record. “Health care groups like Salud Family Health, Servicios de la Raza, Colorado Access, STRIDE Community Health Center, and Aurora Health Alliance were committed to educating the Hispanic community about COVID-19 — providing vaccine and health care services to ensure our community has an equitable pandemic recovery. We owe a debt of gratitude to organizations like Village Exchange Center and Mí Casa Resource Center, among many others that foster an inclusive environment and work directly with the Hispanic community — providing resources, and health care, and vaccine access to residents in District Six.”

Working with different communities to provide vaccines and vaccine awareness has been a priority for Colorado Access and its partners, specifically since the COVID-19 vaccine became available in the United States. Along with its partners, Colorado Access has been able to provide support and resources for vaccine clinics and has worked to highlight and address health challenges in the Hispanic community.
