Statement on the Supreme Court’s Decision Overturning Roe v. Wade

Our mission, to “partner with communities and empower people through access to quality, equitable, and affordable care,” continues to guide our efforts within the community. Last week’s decision by the Supreme Court of the United States will make accessing equitable care more difficult and intensify inequities in some of our most vulnerable communities across the nation. The decision will not only create difficulties for individuals, families and communities across the country, it may put a strain on health services in Colorado, potentially impacting access to care.

Providers of reproductive services diligently work with and will continue to work with our members to ensure access to necessary services to help make the decision that is right for them. Health First Colorado (Colorado’s Medicaid program) has also made a clear commitment to health equity, and we will continue to support not only access to covered services but additional resources that address health equity needs. We will continue to support health care equity for everyone in our country and state, fulfilling our vision of “healthy communities transformed by the care that people want at a cost we can all afford.”
