Colorado Access Named a Denver Post Top Workplace for the Third Consecutive Year

AURORA, Colo. — Colorado Access, the state’s largest and most experienced public sector health plan, has once again been named a Denver Post Top Workplace for 2025, earning the distinction for the third year in a row. The organization serves Health First Colorado (Colorado’s Medicaid program) and Child Health Plan Plus (CHP+) members, in the Denver metro area.

The award is based entirely on feedback from Colorado Access employees through a survey administered by the Denver Post’s technology partner, Energage, LLC. The survey evaluates several aspects of workplace culture, including alignment, execution, and connection. This year, nearly 300 Colorado Access employees participated in the survey.

“It is an honor to be recognized for a third consecutive year. We strive to create a workplace that reflects our mission and values,” said Annie Lee, president and CEO at Colorado Access. This recognition is a reflection of our efforts to build a workplace rooted in our mission and values,” said Annie Lee. “Our dedicated employees drive meaningful change every day in pursuit of health equity, and this honor speaks to their passion, resilience and unwavering commitment to the communities we serve.”

Colorado Access continues to prioritize the well-being, growth, and engagement of its employees through a range of initiatives. The organization regularly holds internal town hall meetings and All Staff meetings, allowing for transparency among employees. Company gatherings are also organized throughout the year to allow for connection and the building of company culture and community. Employee engagement surveys are held twice a year, which give employees the chance to anonymously weigh in on the culture and direction of the company.

“We really value the opinions and input of our employees; we want this to feel like a place we all built together,” said April Abrahamson, chief people and talent development officer at Colorado Access. “In today’s changing workforce, creating an environment that values balance and purpose is more important than ever. We listen to our employees and build our culture around engagement, support, and opportunity. Recognition as a Top Workplace reinforces that our approach is working.”

The nonprofit organization has also introduced the Colorado Access Improvement Academy, a new initiative supporting continuous quality improvement efforts. The Academy provides training in Lean, Six Sigma, and A3 problem-solving methodologies, enabling employees to streamline processes and solve complex issues through hands-on instruction and mentorship. The course is led by certified professionals from the quality improvement and project management teams and is open to all employees.

The organization also offers student loan repayment support, flexible hybrid work options, robust learning and development opportunities, and generous paid time off.
