CPR and AED Awareness

I am certified through the American Heart Association to instruct basic life support and heartsaver cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) courses. CPR is, according to the American Heart Association, “an emergency lifesaving procedure performed when the heart stops beating.” I am a current employee with Colorado Access to train staff on CPR. Due to me being in-house, Colorado Access has established credibility, buy-in, and confidence among participating employees.

Since 2015, my goal has been to ensure that people understand the importance of CPR. I have taught courses in Alabama, Oregon, and now Colorado, including CPR, automated external defibrillator (AED), and first aid. I have never worked for a company so supportive of CPR training. The commitment to ensuring that our employees have the proper knowledge and understanding to potentially save someone’s life in the case of sudden cardiac arrest in adults, children, and infants is phenomenal.

  • We have an in-house CPR certification program that assists in license renewal and first-time certifications. This course is a way to retain top talent and reinforce our core values of excellence, trust, collaboration, innovation, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I), and compassion.
  • This course has grown to include the entire organization to ensure all employees are prepared to properly resuscitate a victim.
  • The learning and development team has also included an AED in the main office building.

Unfortunately, I have conducted CPR on two individuals due to sudden cardiac arrest and respiratory issues. I am very proud to say that they are very much alive today due to my immediate action, utilizing the skills provided to me in my CPR certification training.

If you are an employee who has not taken this course, please do so as this is an important, life-saving skill to know in any environment. You can be the deciding the factor to save someone’s life.

Thank you to Colorado Access and the learning and development team for bringing this opportunity to the organization. This is truly a great place to work!
