Colorado Access Chief Medical Officer Nominated For 2018 C-Suite Awards
AURORA, Colo. — Colorado Access is excited to announce that Alexis Giese, MD, senior vice president of healthcare systems and chief medical officer at the nonprofit health plan, is an honoree for the 2018 C-Suite Awards, the annual award by the Denver Business Journal to recognize executives who have made a significant contribution to the success of their company.
“This nomination is well deserved as Alexis is an innovator and trailblazer in the fields of integrating both physical and behavioral health and making behavioral health more accessible in our communities,” said Jean Barker, vice president of strategic services and communications for Colorado Access. “She is a standard-setter when it comes to aligning scarce resources in ways that have positive measurable outcomes on the lives of people in our community. She is a role model for effective and collaborative leadership among her staff and peers.”
The mission of Colorado Access is to partner with communities and empower people through access to quality, affordable care. As the chief medical officer and senior vice president of healthcare systems at Colorado Access, Dr. Giese’s impact within the company is both broad and deep. She leads the health plan’s health transformation strategy, in which member engagement is a key component. Improving the health of individuals as well as their community as a whole requires targeted messages across the spectrum of needs; from routine wellness messages to evidence-based interventions for those with chronic conditions. Health care lags many industries in using digital technology for customer outreach. Through the use of text, emails and interactive voice response, Colorado Access is now able to measure the effectiveness and impact of its outreach. The teams under Dr. Giese’s leadership have been recognized as a national example of a successful adoption and implementation of the technology. Colorado Access has been able to demonstrate improvement in key health outcomes such as wellness visits and preventive screenings as a result of the use of this digital technology.
Dr. Giese, who is a practicing psychiatrist at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, has led a distinguished career and is recognized nationally as a leader in her fields of psychiatry and integrated care. As her numerous volunteer positions and awards attest, it is important for her to mentor, teach and lead others so they too can contribute to making the lives of individuals and communities healthier.
There are 26 honorees for the 2018 C-Suite Awards, according to the Denver Business Journal. To qualify, executives’ companies must have a significant presence in the Denver metro area.
“Nominees were judged on individual and organizational accomplishments, community involvement, contributions to management and innovation within their fields, among other factors,” according to a recent Denver Business Journal story about the awards.
The honorees will be recognized at a Sept. 25 reception at the Seawell Ballroom at the Denver Performing Arts Center.
