Statement on Senate Passage of the Reconciliation Bill

Annie Lee, president and CEO of Colorado Access, released the following statement after the U.S. Senate passed a budget reconciliation package that includes significant cuts to Medicaid funding:

“With the advancement of this legislation, we are deeply concerned that its policies will undermine the health and stability of more than one million Coloradans. By slashing funding for Medicaid and other essential safety net programs, this bill threatens to unravel the support network that Colorado families and communities rely on. In this pivotal moment, we strongly urge members of the House of Representatives to oppose this bill and consider the real and lasting consequences it would have if advanced to the president’s desk for signature. Medicaid is the foundation of health for 1.3 million Coloradans. It ensures access to primary care, behavioral health support, and critical services that help them live with dignity and security.

As this legislation moves forward, we call on lawmakers to prioritize the needs of their constituents—including those put at risk of losing access to critical services as a result of the bill. We remain committed to protecting Medicaid and advocating for a system that delivers on the promise of accessible, equitable health care for all.”
