Colorado Access Expands Child Health Plan Plus Coverage to Include Kit Carson County, Increasing Coverage to 70% of All Counties in Colorado

Aurora, Colo – Colorado Access, the largest public sector health plan in the state, has announced the expansion of their Child Health Plan Plus plan into Kit Carson County, in eastern Colorado. This expansion goes into effect July 1, 2022, and brings a continued health plan option for children ages 18 and younger as well as pregnant people. The Colorado Access CHP+ HMO plan continues to be the largest in the state and has operated since 1998.

“Colorado Access has been caring for the health of Coloradans for more than 25 years. We’re excited to be able to support new membership and providers in Kit Carson County,” said Ward Peterson, director of enrollment and CHP+ at Colorado Access.

Child Health Plan Plus is a state program offered to pregnant people and children in families who make too much to qualify for Health First Colorado (Colorado’s Medicaid program) but not enough to afford private health insurance. Child Health Plan Plus offered by Colorado Access is currently available in 44 counties in Colorado. The expansion into Kit Carson County extends Colorado Access coverage to now cover 70% of counties in the state.
